Event Details
The Regional Unit of Pieria and the Pieria Organization for Tourism Development and Promotion (POTAP), under the auspices of the Hellenic Tourism Organization and with the supervision of OPEN WAYS Events & Travel, are organizing on May 25 and 26, 2024 the 1st “Olympus Adrenaline & Nature Festival”.
The ‘Olympus Adrenaline & Nature Festival’ aims to connect the coastline of Pieria, Mount Olympus, Pieria itself, nature, culture, and activities into an annual celebration. Throughout this multifaceted festival, parallel outdoor activities will take place both at the central festival venue in Litochoro and throughout Pieria, offered by professionals who aim to provide unique experiential opportunities.
The purpose of the festival is to showcase Pieria’s businesses, organizations, and groups, but primarily to promote all outdoor activities that can take place in the area, inform visitors, and increase tourist influx. Interested individuals will have the opportunity to learn directly from the businesses, engage with experts, participate in experiential activities, and taste new flavors with locally produced and internationally awarded goods.
Pieria, a place with rich cultural heritage and natural beauty, with breathtaking landscape variations, becomes ideal for hosting such events. On one hand, Mount Olympus, the mythical mountain, and on the other hand, kilometers of coastline and the azure sea create the perfect conditions for a variety of outdoor activities in the region, which everyone can discover and enjoy through this festival.

5th International Cultural Festival “FOLKWAY”
CRETE ISLAND – GREECE
Hersonissos – Heraklion
September 26th – September 30th, 2024
Organizers: Open Ways, Culture and Travel Co (FOLKWAY)
Greek local Cultural Associations – Municipality of Hersonissos
Crete is the largest island in Greece and the second biggest (after Cyprus) of the East Mediterranean, with an exquisite 1,000-kilometer-long coastline dotted with numerous coves, bays and peninsulas, which afford a multitude of soft, sandy beaches along the beautifully blue Mediterranean Sea. After all, it’s among the finest in the world and has established Crete as one of Europe’s most popular holiday destinations. And, of course, the island’s historic importance in today’s world as the home of the Minoan civilization with important archeological finds at Knossos, Phaistos and Gortys, is evidenced by the tens of thousands of visitors to these sites each year. Hersonissos is located a few kilometers away from the international airport “Nikos Kazantzakis” of Heraklion. Within its borders there are settlements with unique characteristics and colors. Hersonissos is known as the most organized tourist destination in Crete. It is also known for its high-quality hotels, conference infrastructures and the natural beauty of its coasts. Mass tourism, beautiful beaches and the rich nightlife only constitute one side of the coin “Hersonissos” and many historical monuments and landscapes of exceptional beauty await to be discovered.
All our previous Festivals in our homeland Greece had a great success as we welcomed groups and representatives of more than ten countries in each Festival. Our 5th International Festival in Crete Island in 2024, is the only one international cultural festival in the area/Municipality, which is officially organized in collaboration with the local authorities and Greek local companies – associations with quality standards and great respect for tradition and culture. We expect that it will have a larger impact and will provide to the participants opportunities to learn about different cultures and people, create new friendships, exchange experiences and contacts with other folk groups. Furthermore, during their stay the participants will have the pleasure to enjoy the Greek hospitality, the crystal blue sea and a bright Greek sun. The weather this period is good and warm suitable for swimming.

Rhodes (or Rhodos or Rodos) island in Greece is one of the Mediterranean’s most popular resorts and a perennial holiday favorite for any lifestyle
By far the largest island of the Dodecanese, also known as the “Island of the Sun God Helios”, Rhodes combines a variety of characteristics that make it unique as a travel destination. Rhodes reveals itself to the eyes of the visitor as a magnificent explosion of colors and activities that combine a mix of interesting sights and relaxation, unique nature, learning and entertainment.
Tourism on Rhodes has a long tradition. Ever since the Italians replaced the Turks as the dominant power in the south-eastern Aegean in 1912, and after the island was returned to Greece in 1947, Rhodes has been gradually turned into an attractive tourist destination by continuous investments in tourism infrastructure, making the island one of the most highly organized travel destinations in Greece. Its beautiful beaches, its state-of-the-art buildings and hotels, its picturesque districts, its medieval buildings, its archaeological sites and its rich history contribute to its reputation as one of the most interesting and attractive urban centers of the Mediterranean region.
Our 4th International Festival in Crete Island in 2023, is the only one international cultural festival in the area/Municipality, which is officially organized in collaboration with the local authorities and Greek local companies – associations with quality standards and great respect for tradition and culture.

Event Details
2nd International Dance & Music Festival
MUDANYA – BURSA TURKEY
8-13 September 2024
History Of Mudanya
History of Mudanya dates back to 7th century BC. The first-ever name of the town was Myrleia and it was founded by Colophons, one of the 12 Ionian city- states. According to scholar Prof. Dr. Bilge Umar, the name “Myrleai” dates back to period before Hellenistic migrations and means “strait/pass of great mother goddess”. According to another study, the name was derived from “Myrlius” a Colophon ruler.
In early 3rd century BC, Myrleia was seized and devastated by Prusias, King of Bithynia and King Philip of Macedon. Philip granted the region to his son-in- law Pnisas, who founded a new city instead of Myrleia and named it “Apameia” after Philip’s daughter Apame. Apameia was the first-ever Roman colony in Anatolia during Roman era. Following the defeat of Mithridates of Pontus, the city remained in turmoil for a while, before being transformed into a military base by Roman Emperor Augustus, whereupon it became a Roman colony under the name of “Colonia Julia Concordia Augusta Apameia”. During the Fourth Crusade, Istanbul was invaded in 1204 and Latin Empire was established. Crusaders took control of Marmara coasts and surroundings of Mudanya. Crusader army, which consisted of French, came to Mudanya and around. For some unknown reason, they named the city “Montaneia”. It is argued that the name is derived from Latin “mons” for “mountain”, and signifies highlands, land of mountains. During the same era, the name had several versions, including “Moutagnac”. Apparently, the modern name of the town is derived from this version.
