1st day
Arrival at Thessaloniki airport “Macedonia” – Pieria
Arrival in Thessaloniki, the capital of Northern Greece. The journey to biblical Greece begins! Reception at “Macedonia” airport and transfer to Katerini Beach, Pieria. Check-in at the five-star beachfront hotel “Mediterranean Village Hotel & Spa 5*”. Free time, dinner and overnight stay.
Day 2
Philippi – Kavala
Breakfast and departure via the Egnatia road to Philippi, where Aphrodite A. After breakfast and departure to Filippi, where Paul (Acts 16:12-40, 20:6) was preaching. Visit to the river where Lydia, the first European Christian woman, was baptized. Guided tour of the archaeological site of Philippi, the most important city of eastern Macedonia – a UNESCO World Heritage Site. There, there is the prison of Paul and Silas, the market, the complex of the “octagon”, the theatre. We continue to Kavala, the ancient port of Neapolis, a modern and picturesque city. Return to Pieria in the late afternoon, dinner and overnight.
Day 3
Thessaloniki
Breakfast and departure for Thessaloniki where we start the tour from the Eptapyrgio, the walls of the old city. In the city center, we visit unique early Christian and Byzantine churches of great historical importance, such as the Acheriopitos (5th century) and the 7th century church of Agia Sophia of God, which is believed to have been built on the ruins of an early Christian basilica. Guided tour of Agios Dimitrios, Rotunda, the Archaeological Museum and the White Tower. Free time in the city for walking and shopping. Return to Pieria in late afternoon, dinner and overnight.
Day 4
Veria – Vergina (Aigai) – Dion
Breakfast and departure for Veria (Acts 17: 10-15). Visit to the Vema of Apostle Paul, the Jewish quarter and synagogue. Next stop is Vergina, the first capital of the Macedonians, where the tomb of Philip II, father of Alexander the Great, is located. Transfer to Pieria and visit the archaeological site of Dion, the sacred city of the Macedonians. Return to the hotel in the late afternoon, dinner and overnight.
Day 5
Meteora – Kalambaka – Athens
Breakfast and departure for Meteora, one of the most important monuments in the world, protected by UNESCO, and the most remarkable, after Mount Athos, monastic center in Greece.
Transfer to Athens, dinner and overnight there.
Day 6
Athens
After breakfast we start the tour with a panoramic tour of the sights of Athens by bus (Panathenaic Stadium, the Monument of the Unknown Soldier where we watch the changing of the guard, the Temple of Olympian Zeus). Visit to the Parthenon (Acropolis) and the Erechtheion. We climb the rocky hill of the Supreme Court ( Acts 17:22) where Ap. Paul gave a fascinating 5-minute speech in front of the giants of philosophy, logic and learning. He spoke of the God to whom the inscription “to an unknown God” is dedicated. Next stop, the Acropolis Museum and the ancient marketplace.
Free time in the center of Athens. Back to the hotel, dinner and overnight.
Day 7
Corinth – Cherry trees
Breakfast and transfer to Corinth ( Acts 18: 1-18) where we make a stop at the historic Isthmus of Corinth. Paul’s teaching in the area: the Agora, the Temple of Apollo, the Roman Odeon, the Bema and Gallio’s Seat. We continue on to Kechreae, ruins of the port of Ancient Corinth, from where Ap. Paul returned to Antioch via Ephesus, Caesarea and Jerusalem.
Return to Athens, dinner and overnight stay.
Day 8
Athens – departure from the airport “El. Departure from Athens
A unique journey to the biblical sites of Greece is completed. After breakfast, transfer to Athens “Eleftherios Venizelos” airport.
