A new event for the promotion of Thessaloniki and Central Macedonia with successful business meetings The first CONNECT Tourism & Travel Event Thessaloniki, held on the initiative of the Thessaloniki Convention Bureau and with the support of the Region of Central Macedonia, was successfully completed. In two events, fully targeted to the destination and the theme, the first Thessaloniki, City Break & MICE destination held on Tuesday 11 May 2021 and the second Alternative Tourism in Central Macedonia on Wednesday 12 May 2021, the destination presentations and business meetings were developed. “Open Ways Events & Travel”, based in Thessaloniki, participated in the event, gaining significant and measurable benefits from the targeted B2B meetings. During the two days of the CONNECT Tourism & Travel Event Thessaloniki, 52 companies of the local tourism industry came into contact with 63 representatives of the European and international market from 15 countries, with the main ones being Germany, Israel, Romania, France, Italy, Belgium, Poland, Russia and Slovenia. In total, more than 400 online pre-arranged B2B meetings were held in order to promote the tourism products and services offered and to explore partnerships. It is worth noting that the CONNECT Tourism & Travel Event Thessaloniki 2021 was held with the support of the Region of Central Macedonia and is under the auspices of the Ministry of Interior (Macedonia and Thrace), the Hellenic Tourism Organisation and the Municipality of Thessaloniki. The event was sponsored by Fraport Greece, the Thessaloniki Film Festival, the Wine Roads of Northern Greece and Sailing Time.
